What Is Material Handling, Principles and How It Is Used?
Material Handling Overview
The term “material handling” usually refers to the various processes by which objects or materials are safely moved and stored. These processes are usually found throughout all stages of manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, utilization and disposal. As a procedure, material handling consolidates an extensive variety of manual, semi-mechanized and automated gear and frameworks that help coordinate the supply chain.
An organization's material handling system and procedures are set up to enhance client benefit, diminish stock, abbreviate conveyance time, and lower general expenses in assembling, circulation and transportation.
How is Material Handling Equipment Used?
There is an assortment of manual, semi-mechanized and mechanized material handling hardware available, as well as technological advancements which can help in the safe movement of objects and materials all through various departments such as manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, utilization and disposal.
What Are the Principles of Material Handling?
When considering various material handling systems, it is critical to refer to best practices. The goal is to ensure that all the hardware and procedures work together as a unified system. This includes all of the manual, semi-mechanized and automated gear and frameworks. By investigating the objectives of the material handling system and aligning them with guidelines, for example, the 10 Principles of Material Handling, an appropriately planned framework will enhance client benefit, diminish stock, abbreviate conveyance time, and lower general expenses in assembling, circulation and transportation. The New Single Mount Pneumatic Balancer
See The Difference In Our Bal-Trol® Product Line!
The Bal-Trol is a pneumatic balancer capable of balancing a load in a virtual zero-gravity state using pressurized air, hence the term “pneumatic balancer”. The Bal-Trol pneumatic balancer is available in a number of different configurations. The newest model is the Single Mount configuration which, as its name implies, only requires a single mounting point even though the tube orientation is horizontal. All of the earlier models with horizontal tube orientations required two mounting points, so the Single Mount model is the first of its kind in that respect. The arrangement is similar to the canister type hoists made by our competitors, but the Single Mount pneumatic balancer is not a canister design at all -- it is still based on the same principles of the earlier Bal-Trol pneumatic balancers. The competitors’ models can have expensive electronic components which could be a real problem if they fail, overheat, have moisture damage, or require reprogramming. However the Bal-Trol pneumatic balancer is 100% pneumatic, and does not utilize any electronics. Check out our new line Single Mount Pneumatic Balancer.
See The Benefits Of A Pneumatic Lift Assist Device From Tri-Motion Industries
As with any work environment, analyzing the production output and getting feedback from employees are key to finding out where there is opportunity for improvement. Slow output, fatigued employees and more back injuries could be reduced greatly with a pneumatic lift assist device. A pneumatic lift assist device can range from a variety of material handling equipment like pneumatic hoists, pallet lifters, adjustable pallet stackers and lifting tables. Hatcher cites the 2014 Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index report See Full Report Issued Through MHL News, shows the burden and revenue lost in association with back injuries. We strive to help customers with several options of pneumatic lift assist devices depending on what their application entails. Our Bal-Trol® pneumatic lift assist can range from a modular, full force, pro-air and single mount all of which can be customized to the customers application Bal-Trol Models. We look forward to working with you on your next pneumatic lift assist application!
Re-designed Bal-Trol a Full One-Third Shorter, Same Capacity!
Who says you can’t invent a better mousetrap? Tri-Motion is proud to have recently launched a new totally re-designed Bal-Trol (we call it the “Pro Series”) that achieves a one-third reduction in tube length! What is even more amazing about this development is that the re-designed product has the same capacity as the existing product and less parts, despite the shorter tube length.
For those of you familiar with the Bal-Trol product line, make no mistake about it. This is not a mere product enhancement, it is a totally re-designed product that is more compact and has fewer moving parts to maintain. Yet, it has the same lifting/balancing capacity as our existing units. Our existing unit line-up (both full capacity and modular units) is still available, but customers will want to consider the new Pro-Air Bal-Trol product, especially for applications where space is limited.
According to Vice President Oliver Van Keuren, “the Pro-Series Bal-Trol offers all the advantages of the existing Bal-Trol product. It is designed to be as simple and effective as possible. Like our existing models, there are no expensive electronic components, and no computer parts that can fail or require programming. Customers will also appreciate the fact that pricing for the newly designed Pro-Series units is comparable to pricing for our existing Bal-Trol products.”
Tri-Motion President Joe Green commented that “I couldn’t be more proud of Oliver and the rest of our Tri-Motion team for their hard work and ingenuity in bringing this new product to market. This may be a day and age when many companies have chosen to ‘batten down the hatches’ and put key projects on hold in the hopes of a better economy. Here at Tri-Motion, we have chosen to roll up our sleeves and work even harder to bring our customers the very best products and services we can.”
Many of our readers are very familiar with the Bal-Trol product. For those who aren’t, Bal-Trol is a pneumatic device that can be used to balance or lift a load. For quieter, smoother and more maintenance-free operation, the Bal-Trol should be considered in place of applications using chain hoists (air or electric) or other lifting methods—and especially in place of back-breaking manual lifting!
The Bal-Trol is a simple, cost-effective solution for workplace lifting injuries, especially from repetitive lifting. It can permit users to make the workplace more efficient by allowing a single worker to perform an operation that would otherwise require assistance in manually lifting a heavy load. Bal-Trol air balancers are time-tested. They have been in use for over 30 years in a variety of applications, in diverse industries, all over the world. These include automotive, brewing, military hardware, window manufacturing, and food product manufacturing and processing, to name just a few.
We will also be introducing a NEW SINGLE MOUNT Pro-Air series in February 2015, stay tuned for more details!
