BAL-TROL®
AIR BALANCERS GENERAL INFORMATION
Balancer Definition: A Balancer is intended for
applications where a constant weight is supported from load hook. Once a
load (usually a tool) is mounted and the balancer is adjusted, the load
should never be removed from the hook without first adjusting the balancer
back to its minimal setting. This holds true for all balancers whether
spring driven or air operated.
Balancer Function: Balancers re intended to five a degree of
weightlessness to a suspended load. The reason for this is to give the load
maximum mobility while minimizing operator effort. Balancers also protect
the tool from being dropped and damaged.
Why Bal-Trol®
Air Balancers?
1. Extremely Efficient Balance
2. Ergonomics: Very little effort is needed to raise or lower a suspended
payload.
It also helps to eliminates operator fatigue.
3. Varying Types of Balance: Depending on adjustment of the unit, balance can be
(a) Constant Tension: payload remains where it is
(b) Bias Up: after use, payload automatically returns to up position.
(c) Bias Down: after use, payload automatically returns to down position
4. Capacities: Broad range of capacity within each model
Full Capacity Units:
FH & FV Weight Range
50: 3 to 50 lbs
01: 20 to 100 lbs
02: 50 to 200 lbs
03: 75 to 300 lbs
06: 200 to 600 lbs

20: 900 to 2000 lbs
Modular Units:
MH & MV Weight Range
M03/4: 10 to 80 lbs
M03/6: 10 to 60 lbs
M03/8: 5 to 40 lbs
M06/4: 15 to 125 lbs
M06/6: 15 to 100 lbs
M06/8: 10 to 75 lbs
M12/4: 50 to 300 lbs
M12/6: 30 to 200 lbs
M12/8: 30 to 150 lbs
M40/4: 300 to 800 lbs
M40/6: 200 to 600 lbs
M40/8: 100 to 400 lbs
5. Mounting: Two mountings are available depending on the space requirements:
(a) Vertical: straight cable drop. Single point mounting.
(b) Horizontal: cable passes over sheave to work area. Two point mounting.
6. Stroke/Travel: On full capacity units Stroke/Travel. On modular units
stroke is multiplied by Ratio to determine Travel. Each Bal-Trol®
unit is built to conform to the stroke requirements of an application.
7. Adjustments: Extremely quick and easy. Simply adjust regulator and servo
knob until he desired balance is obtained. No additional tools are needed.
8. Air Consumption: Each Bal-Trol®
unit is rated 80 PSI, lower capacity requires lower air pressure.
Consumption is minimal. Intake of air is only required for lifting of the
payload.
Holding a payload stationary or lowering of payload uses little or no air. See Air
Consumption Chart)
9. Safety: Check valves are in place so that loss of main air supply will
not cause the payload to drop. Loss of air in the hose between regulator and
servo-bleed valve will cause the payload to drop. All Bal-Trol®
units are supplied with a steel braided hose so damage is almost impossible.
Nylon coated steel aircraft cable is supplied and provides approximately a 8
to 1 safety factor.
10. Durability: Due to the cylindrical construction of Bal-Trol®
units, very few wear points exist. Under normal use, the life expectancy of
our balancers is equal to or greater than alternate methods. Maintenance, if
ever required, is a minor operation.
11. Price: Bal-Trol®
Balancers are far less expensive than other balancers, spring or air.

LIFT ASSISTS (AIR HOIST) GENERAL INFORMATION
Lift Assist Definition: Used for picking up, lifting and lowering
weights from one point to another. The payload can be removed and lift assist
returned to another position to repeat the process.
Lift Assist Types: Lift Assists can be operated one of three ways: by
hand, electrically, or by air. All three are effective and the application
will dictate which method is best.
When Air?: Pneumatic lift assists are used when the situation calls
for fast repetitive lifting and lowering. Precise positioning is an added
feature of Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists.
Why Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists?:
1. Smooth Movement: The payload is lifted and lowered in a smooth controlled
manner without any jerking or bouncing of the payload.
2. Various Capacities: Many models are available,
allowing greater flexibility in satisfying a particular application.
Full Capacity Units:
FH & FV Weight Range
50: 10 to 50 lbs
01: 10 to 100 lbs
02: 10 to 200 lbs
03: 10 to 300 lbs
06: 10 to 600 lbs
08: 10 to 800 lbs
12: 10 to 1200 lbs
20: 10 to 2000 lbs
Modular Units:
MH & MV Weight Range
M03/4: 10 to 80 lbs
M03/6: 10 to 60 lbs
M03/8: 5 to 40 lbs
M06/4: 15 to 125 lbs
M06/6: 15 to 100 lbs
M06/8: 10 to 75 lbs
M12/4: 50 to 300 lbs
M12/6: 30 to 200 lbs
M12/8: 30 to 150 lbs
M40/4: 300 to 800 lbs
M40/6: 200 to 600 lbs
M40/8: 100 to 400 lbs
3. Mounting: Two mounting arrangements are available with selection
depending on available space.
V: vertical - single point mounting
H: horizontal - two point mounting.
4. Travel: Each Bal-Trol®
is built to meet the specific travel required for each application.
Full Capacity Units: Stroke = Travel
Modular Units: Stroke is multiplied by ratio to determine travel.
5. Adjustment: Up speed is quickly adjusted by turning flow control on
the manifold. Down speed is adjusted at the control handle.
6. Low Air Consumption: Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists are all rated at 80 PSI. Air is required for lifting function
only. A Stationary or descending payload uses little or no air.
7. Ergonomically Designed Controls: Two controls available.
(a) Sensi-Touch: For loads that are not extremely large. Sensi-Touch is
mounted in line with cable, allowing operator to move load horizontally with
same hand that control vertical motion. Simply slide sleeve upward and load
rises. Depress sleeve downward and load begins descent. (Ideal for
assembly/transfer applications where quick precise placement is needed.)
(b) Speed Handle: (Pendent Control) For loads too large to allow use of
Sensi-Touch. Allows remote operation by depressing one of two levers.
8. Speed: Both controls allow for sped to satisfy the application.
(Gentle pressure) - Slow gradual movement.
(Increased pressure) - Faster movement.
Maximum speeds can be preset.
9. Float: All Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists have a range of float between 2" and 4". This allows the
operator to have a greater control in precise positioning of loads. The operator
brings the payload down to within a few inches of its dropping point and then
positions the payload in place by hand. Once in place, the operator finishes until
the payload
bottoms out. (Standard geared hoists don't budge once control is stopped).
10. Safety: Loss of air pressure will not result in loss of load. Load may
begin to slowly drift forward but the lowering is extremely gradual. Minimal
drop in air pressure will not affect operation.
11. Durability: Due to the cylindrical construction, wear points are
minimal. In normal use Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists will have a life expectancy equal to or greater than alternate
methods. Maintenance, should it ever become necessary, is a minor operation.
12. Price: Bal-Trol®
Lift Assists are priced from 10% to 50% below the competition.
